The mounting feeling for the need of strengthening fraternity bonds and consolidating steps enhancing economic cooperation among countries sharing common characteristics, objectives, and destiny had led to entertaining the idea of establishing a federation comprising the chambers of commerce, industry, and agriculuture in the arab Gulf states. European Chambers of Commerce & Industry are the oldest in the world, in some cases the biggest in the world, and as a group, certainly among the most diverse in the world! While dating back to 1599 and Proud top boast 400 years of support to the business community, European Chambers are today engaged in the promotion of the most modern technologies, the best management practices, and providing the most up-to-date services. The European Union (EU) is an economic and political union of 27 member states, located primarily in Europe. It was established by the Treaty of Maastricht on 1 November 1993 upon the foundations of the pre-existing European Economic Community. With almost 500 million citizens, the EU combined generates an estimated 30% share (US$16.8 trillion in 2007) of the nominal gross world product. After 1979, the relatively newly formed Arab Gulf, found their existence being put into a direct test. Due to the geopolitical closeness and their economically strategic location, the Kingdom of Bahrain, State of Kuwait, Sultanate of Oman, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates sought out a protective counter-alliance. With foreign investment operating in an intensely competitive world, countries need more than ever to develop efficient communication tools and appropriate promotional means in order to reach the global business community directly. GEOC’s mission is to advise and help public as well as private entities. |
